Indigo and Ida is Here!

On September 23, 2021, I posted a “Tip O’ The Hat!” to my daughter, Heather Murphy Capps, for signing her first publishing deal.

Well, now the book is here!

Indigo and Ida is a middle grade novel about eighth grader, Indigo, whose encounter with a book by Black journalist and activist, Ida B. Wells, leads her to realize she must choose between keeping quiet about an unfair school policy and fighting for justice.

It’s available to order on Amazon, where you can also read reviews submitted by other authors of middle grade fiction. I pre-ordered and will, in addition, get a copy (or several, for Christmas presents!) from my local independent bookstore, Book No Further, in Roanoke, VA. I can hardly wait to discover along with Indigo as she explores issues of friendship, identity, and truth-telling; and to meet another of the book’s amazing characters, Indigo’s pet turtle, Miles Davis, the Third.
